Caffeine
Each 8 oz cup of our decaf tea contains about 2–5 mg of caffeine. Our CO₂-decaffeinated green, jasmine green and oolong teas come in at 3–5 mg; our black teas come from a cultivar that makes only about 2–3 mg on its own. For comparison, a typical cup of regular tea has about 50–80 mg and an average brewed coffee about 95 mg. Most people report enjoying an evening cup without disrupting sleep⁎, making it perfect for a calm, late‑day ritual.
⁎ Note: Caffeine sensitivity varies by individual. If you're very sensitive to caffeine, start with an afternoon cup and see how you feel before moving it later. If you have health concerns, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider.

No — and we're upfront about that. No decaf tea is truly caffeine-free. Ours has about 2–5 mg per cup. For context, a typical cup of regular tea contains about 50–80 mg of caffeine. At de-, our teas keep only a small fraction of the caffeine of a standard tea, and far less than coffee or soda. It's a better balance for those seeking peace of mind in their evening routine.
Taste
It can—but not with us. Many decaf teas lose their natural flavor during processing. At de-, our green, jasmine green and oolong teas are decaffeinated with a supercritical CO₂ extraction method, which is known for retaining the highest level of original aroma, complexity, and depth. Our proprietary recipe is carefully optimized for each tea variety, allowing us to remove the caffeine while preserving the tea's true character. Our black teas skip the process altogether: they come from a cultivar that makes almost no caffeine on its own. The result? A rich, satisfying cup that tastes like real tea—because it is.
Properly stored, our tea retains peak freshness for 12 months. After that, it's still safe—but flavor may gradually mellow.
Each of our premium tea bags delivers 1–3 infusions. Because we use carefully selected tea leaves, each steeping reveals new layers of flavor. We recommend brewing at least twice—first for a bright, nuanced cup, then again to discover the deeper, lingering notes that make de- tea truly exceptional.
Health & Safety
Not with our process. Some caffeine-reduction methods rely on chemical solvents, which may leave residues or raise health concerns. At de-, we use a natural, chemical-free CO₂ extraction process (our black teas need no decaffeination at all)—a method recognized as safe, clean, and food-grade. It leaves no residues behind and maintains the tea's purity, so you can sip with confidence any time of day.
Our sachets are woven from plant-based corn fiber—100% biodegradable and compostable back to earth.
Store your tea in a cool, dry place away from light, moisture, and strong odors. An airtight container is best.
